Who are you out of work?
Last Wednesday at The Checkpoint we asked a simple question: “Who are you out of work?”
It sparked a fun and honest conversation.
What we talked about
We spoke about identity, retirement, changing careers, and what happens when those labels we carry for years start to change.
Overheard at the Checkpoint
A few lines that stuck with me after the call.
“I was told I’m a ‘when I, then I’ person. When I have this, then I’ll do that.”
It made me think of what could be holding ME back.
- Am I looking for excuses?
- Am I risk averse?
Answering the classic BBQ question, “So what do you do?”
“I’m evolving.”
A pretty bold answer, but one that’ll definitely get a response. I’m childish and thought of Pokémon, but for the Player this quote came from, it truly represents where she is at this stage in her life. I’m seeing it first-hand.
You’re not the only one asking
One thing was obvious. We’re all asking these questions, and sharing our different experiences helped.
Your turn, player
Before you hit continue, sit with these for a minute.
“What happens when I retire?”
If that question makes you stop and think, we’d love to have you join us.
Don’t play the next stage alone.
